I've been browsing Pinterest and brainstorming how I can update our front door and entryway. We have a maroon front door and shutters. It isn't the worst color in the world but just isn't my style. I want something a little more modern and neutral. I try to take walks with my son every day so I'm always looking at the colors of the houses in our neighborhood trying to picture what would look good for our house. As I'm neighborhood stalking and Pinterest scrolling, I've seen this layered doormat and rug combo idea that I just love! I would have never thought to layer a rug underneath my doormat but what a fun way to jazz up your entryway! Being the frugal person that I am, I thought it ... read more

Baby Registry Tips: What You Don’t Need
After my last registry post talking about what I wish I would have registered for as a first-time mom, it got me thinking about all the things I have from my baby registry that I don't really use. And I knew this would happen just like it did with my wedding registries. If you've ever had a registry before, then you probably know the feeling. There are just some obvious "what was I thinking?" moments. So after rounding up the things I wish I would have included - you can read that post here - now I want to talk about the things that, if I could do it over, I wouldn't include and why. I have linked all the products and have also included some alternatives I think worked better for us or ... read more

Baby Registry Must Haves
I've officially survived my first year of motherhood! Somehow I managed to navigate my way through that first year despite all the obstacles I had to overcome: sleep deprivation, postpartum recovery, feedings every 2-3 hours, colds and viruses, countless doctor visits, shots, alllll the messes that were cleaned up and let me tell you...there were a LOT! People ask me what the transition into motherhood is like. I tell them that it's like being thrown into the deep end of a pool not knowing how to swim but somehow teaching yourself how. Most of the time you are flailing around and panicking thinking you are drowning. But somewhere along the way you figure out how to calm down, keep yourself ... read more
12 Gluten Free Dairy Free Foods You Will Love
Last summer my husband went on a gluten and dairy free diet for some health reasons. This wasn't completely new territory for us because we had done a few Whole 30 challenges in the past and I was eating about 90% Whole 30 the 6 months leading up to me getting pregnant. If you aren't familiar, Whole 30 is pretty much gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and alcohol free. My husband has been a CHAMP and literally hasn't cheated once since last summer. He was encouraged to go gluten and dairy free for a year so we are almost to the year mark. Our son was around 3 months old at the time my husband started his gluten and dairy free diet and I was still breastfeeding so I decided not to do it ... read more
Buffalo Plaid Nursery
Our little guy is already 1 year old and time is flyyyying. I honestly don't know how 12 months (now 14) went by so fast. I will never forget the first time we bought something for our little guy's nursery. It was on Black Friday and we bought some cute buffalo plaid nursery decor at Hobby Lobby. We were so excited and couldn't wait to see the room come together. It's somewhat odd to decorate the room of a person you haven't even met yet. When I was pregnant, I would wonder what his interests and passions would be as he got older. Would he even like the stuff we were picking out for him or would he be a dinosaur or sports boy instead? I'm sure he still will be. But the buffalo plaid ... read more
KKW Beauty Mrs West Collection Dupes
A friendly reader requested this post and I'm so glad they did! I did a Kylie Skin dupe post a few weeks ago when it first launched - you can read it here - and this Mrs. West Collection launched around the same time. As it goes with most KKW Beauty collections, most of the items are already sold out. So I took on the challenge of finding KKW Beauty Mrs West Collection dupes with affordable products. If you want the look for less or couldn't get your hands on the Mrs. West items you wanted, these dupes are great alternatives. Like ... read more
Full Face of Travel Size High End Makeup
Who else is a sucker for the travel size displays at Ulta?! I don't know why they always get me. I just love things in tiny packages and little miniatures. And on the practical side, sometimes it's great to have a smaller version of your fave product for travel! It's also a great way to try new products without having to commit to a full size if you aren't sure you will like it. Side note - brands need to start doing this with foundations! Wouldn't that be awesome if they came in tiny packages to try a few times instead of realizing the shade is wrong or you hate the formula and are left with a full bottle. If that's ever a thing...you heard it here first ;) I think you can still return ... read more
