I’m now a few weeks into the third trimester for my second pregnancy. If you missed the first post in this series, check out my first trimester Amazon pregnancy essentials roundup. This post covers all the must-haves you will need to get through the roller coaster that is the first trimester of your pregnancy. And bonus – you can get all the things on Amazon from the comfort of your own couch while you run back and forth to the bathroom getting sick 😷
But today’s post talks all about the glory and glow that is the second trimester! It really is the sweet spot..the cream in the middle of the oreo cookie. Sorry if I’ve now made you crave oreos…just stop reading real quick and go get some…I’ll wait ha!
In the second trimester, lots of the ugly and uncomfortable symptoms have let up and you are starting to feel like a human being again. Plus, your bump will start to take center stage and it’s the fun stage where it’s cute and tiny, easily dressed up and somewhat flattering still.
This time around, my second trimester was a great time if only it had lastest longer. I feel like it really flew by and I didn’t get to appreciate it while I had the chance. Now I’m in my pregnancy 30s…the final stretch and some of the hardest weeks. But I’ll save that for another time and place. Let’s focus back on the oreo – the second trimester – so we can talk all things second trimester Amazon pregnancy essentials.
Like I mentioned in my first trimester post, Amazon is your best friend now and strap in for a long term relationship because the bond just gets stronger once that baby gets here! If you don’t have Amazon prime, save yourself the headache now (trust me!) and just sign up here. You will be glad you have that free two day shipping in the middle of the night when you have a newborn that won’t sleep while you are waiting on that new swaddle to come so you can try it out and save your sanity.
Honestly, Amazon is the best place for pregnancy items. It’s a one-stop-shop for pretty much anything you are looking for and the prices are unbeatable. Maternity and pregnancy items can be really expensive so finding affordable yet quality items is your best bet. Also, one other disclaimer if you didn’t read my first trimester post, I’m focusing these roundups on items for mama-to-be. These aren’t baby/shower items or maternity clothes. They are pregnancy essentials that will get any mama-to-be (whether first time or not) through each pregnancy trimester with a little more comfort and ease. Because us pregnant mamas could all use a little dose of that…am I right?!
So let’s jump into these second trimester Amazon pregnancy essentials.
// Bra Extenders
These have been SO handy. Through both pregnancies, I’ve tried to make what I already have work for as long as possible as far as my wardrobe goes. That includes my bras. These bra extenders are great because the girls will definitely get bigger meaning you will absolutely outgrow your current ones. Plus it’s hard to know what size you will actually be so they will adjust with your growing body. You could easily be several different sizes over the course of your pregnancy. I used them postpartum as well while I was slowly shedding the baby weight.
// Full Body Pillow
Sleep in the first trimester is pretty much the same. But that drastically changes come the second trimester. And if you are a stomach (or really whatever position you feel like) sleeper like me, sleep is going to be very challenging from this point on. By about half way through pregnancy, it’s recommended to sleep on your sides only. You obviously can’t sleep on your stomach now and sleeping on your back puts you at risk for decreased blood flow since your baby/uterus is now weighing down other areas of your body. (Disclaimer: not a doctor so feel free to look into it yourself and ask your provider.)
If you aren’t a side sleeper, you NEED this pillow. Because sleep as you know it is about to be turned upside down once baby comes so don’t waste the final months you have being uncomfortable.
// Compression Socks
These are great for promoting better blood flow. Varicose veins run in my family so I wear compression socks as a preventative measure. It’s especially important during pregnancy when extra weight and strain are put on your legs and lower body.
// Sleeping Bras
Back to the girls for a second…as they get bigger, things tend to get more uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s actually more comfortable to wear a bra because you have some support. But you need a comfortable bra that isn’t restricting if you are going to have one on all the time. The sweet spot is finding one that gives some support but you forget you have it on. Keep in mind these are more for around the house and aren’t going to give you shape and lift if that’s what you are looking for.
Can you sense a theme yet…the key is comfort!!
// Elastic Waist Extender
Along the same lines as the bra extenders if you don’t want to buy a whole new wardrobe. Make your pre-pregnancy pants last a little longer with these extenders as your belly grows.
// Maternity Underwear
Yes it’s a thing and highly rated and reviewed by mamas that have come before us! These won’t restrict your belly. Are they sexy? No. Will you care? Probably not haha.
// Sonogram Photo Frame
Collect those sonogram pictures as keepsakes and buy something cute to display them in! They are precious views of your baby that you will want to keep.
// Pregnancy Pillow Wedge
An alternative (or even addition) to the full body pillow. Let me say it one more time – don’t give up the good sleep while you can still get it! Do whatever it takes to get comfortable. Trust me, you do not want to know the different pillow configurations I’ve come up with to find just the right positioning.
And those my friends are my second trimester Amazon pregnancy essentials. These items will help you make it through the middle of your pregnancy. If you can prioritize your comfort now, it will help as you move into the third trimester where things really get rocky.
Soak up all the fun pregnancy moments these 3 months because they truly are some of the best. Enjoy the cute bump and baby kicks ❤️
