I first learned about Influenster on Youtube. Yes, I have an addiction to Youtube and yes, I’m not ashamed of it. I love watching makeup videos and could watch them all day every day. Once day I stumbled upon a video talking about Influenster and it sparked my interest. It must have been the title of the video or something that made me click on it because I wasn’t subscribed to this person’s channel.
Anyway, Influenster is a community of shoppers who share expert tips, product reviews, keep up with the latest product launches and get the opportunity to test products for free based on their social media influence. I decided to sign up and give it a shot. I was really interested in being able to test out new products and review them as well as share product reviews and read reviews from others. (p.s. signing up is free!)
In order to test products, you have to connect all of your social media channels to your account as well as a blog if you have one. Once you do that, Influenster will show you your influence based on the total amount of people you are connected to across all platforms. You don’t have to connect everything but the more you connect, the larger your influence and better likelihood of you getting free products to test.
After I connected everything, I started browsing reviews and submitting some of my own. I love makeup and I think love is an understatement. I am obsessed with makeup! It’s a fun hobby where I can try out new products, create new looks on myself, and play around. When I was in high school and bored on a school night, sometimes I would gather all my makeup and sit in the living room and just try new techniques and looks or just play around. When I got to college (and even the few years post college), I kind of forgot about it or was too lazy to get made up everyday so didn’t really pay much attention to my personal makeup style.
It wasn’t until about a year ago that I discovered makeup and beauty channels on Youtube and fell back in love with it all. I was reminded of how much I enjoy experimenting and just sitting and taking my time to do my makeup well. It opened doors to all kinds of new products, brands, and tools that I hadn’t payed attention to for the last 6+ years.
Ok back on track here….anyway I started reviewing some products I already owned on the app and about 2 weeks or so after I signed up, I received an email to get prequalified for a Voxbox. A Voxbox is what Influenster will send out each month to members who have influence and would like to try out products. I took a survey and was on the list for a Voxbox! I got it a week or two later. The boxes are similar to the idea of what Ipsy or Boxycharm does but you don’t have to pay a subscription for them. They are sent to you for free in exchange for reviewing and posting about the products in the box on your platforms – SOLD!
This picture was my first box and stay tuned for my full review on the items in the box if you are interested!
Influenster gives you tasks to complete with each box that will give you points. The more points you earn, the more likely you will receive boxes in the future. They give you quite a bit of time to complete these tasks. I think when I received my box and checked it in, I have around 40 some days to complete any or all of the tasks before the window closes. I think it’s great they give you plenty of time to test the products so you can use them multiple times and really form a solid opinion. They also encourage honest opinions for all product reviews! That doesn’t mean you can be mean but it encourages you to share your honest feedback and explain why a product may not have worked for you – even though it could totally work for somebody else. We’ll all different 🙂
If you are interested in Influenster, check out their site or app and sign up for free! I’m so excited to try all of my products out from my first Voxbox and hope to receive more in the future!
