In my last post, I talked all about what Influenster was and how it works! If you missed it, you can catch up here 🙂 For today’s post, I’m going to be reviewing each of the products and sharing my thoughts. Some products and brands were totally new to me and some I was familiar with or have used in the past. So let’s get into this!
- SheaMoisture Argan Oil & Almond Milk Smooth & Tame Shampoo & Blow Out Creme
Shampoo Claims: gently cleanse, control frizz and hydrate
These both came in little sample packs so I was able to get 2 washes out of the shampoo. I agree with the claims and felt like my hair was smoother after washing and styling. I have heard of Shea Moisture before but have never tried any of their products. My husband actually uses their raw shea butter moisture retention shampoo for dry/damaged hair and has repurchased it several times. Although I do agree with the claims, I didn’t care for this shampoo. My hair is very fine and straight so I don’t struggle much with frizz and my hair is very soft usually. I actually work to add volume and I do mean WORK! Voluminous hair doesn’t come easy for me. Overall, it left my hair feeling weighed down and flat. I just don’t think I have the right hair type for it.
Blow Out Creme Claims: tame unruly frizz and flyaways; improves control and manageability while protecting against heat
I only used this once but could have easily gotten 4-5 uses out of the sample pack. Again, I do agree with the claims about controlling frizz and flyaways and I liked the added bonus of protecting against heat. However, like the shampoo, I felt like this creme really weighed my hair down and I could feel the product in it all day afterwards which I don’t like. I stick to minimal products on the regular because I’m not a huge fan of products in my hair unless they are really doing something for me. I actually felt like my hair was harder to manage as a result. Overall, just don’t think I have the right hair type for it.
2. Kandee Johnson for Sinful Colors Digital Dreams nail polish
This was a fun color! I don’t usually go for chunky glitter polishes or lots of sparkle so at first I was a little disappointed but thought I would give it a go anyways. The base color was clear so I decided to pair it with a neutral base color to tone down the glittery vibe and make it more wearable for day-to-day. I used a pale lavender color as my base coat and topped with Digital Dreams and really liked how it turned out! Plus Digital Dreams doubled as a top coat so it saved a step 🙂
3. Madam C.J. Walker Brassica Seed Oil
Claims: smooths and provides brilliant shine for heat-styled hair
This was my first time hearing about this brand and testing one of their products. However, hair oils are not for me! I have very bright naturally blonde hair and any of my blonde hair girls know how noticeable and gross greasy/oily hair looks! Any oil that I put in my hair immediately gives me that wet look and also makes my hair look darker. Needless to say, its not a good look on me so hate to be a broken record but I just don’t have the right hair type for this. I will be giving this to away to a friend who can use it 🙂
4. Carefree® Acti-Fresh liners and 5. Vaseline 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly
These are 2 products and brands that I’m sure most girls are familiar with. Carefree is a great brand and we all know when that time of the month comes – we need something to save the day! And Vaseline is so handy and multi-purpose. It’s a product that will probably never go away because it has so many uses. I personally use it as a lip balm in the winter to really hydrate and repair chapped lips and also as a mixing medium for lipsticks and other lip products.
That’s a wrap! Excited to review more Voxboxes in the future. Thanks to Influenster for the complimentary goodies 🙂
Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
