Drugstore makeup sponges have single-handedly changed my makeup game! I have never received so many compliments on my makeup then when I switched to using a makeup sponge. The original Beauty Blender started the makeup sponge craze and (again) I thank Jesus for drugstore makeup brands because I can always count on them to come out with more affordable options! True confession…I’ve actually never used the original beauty blender because I’ve had a hard time rationalizing $20 for a makeup sponge in my head.
But luckily, I’ve never had to splurge because drugstore makeup sponges are fantastic and more affordable alternatives that achieve the same result as the original beauty blender in my opinion. I’ve rounded up the top 10 most notable options at the drugstore to give you the low down on which ones are worth trying.
*Side note – when I say “drugstore” sometimes I don’t literally mean you can buy all of these items at the drugstore because I know you can’t. For example, you can only buy the Morphe sponge on their website. I use the term drugstore more so to describe the affordability and price point tier of products I’m talking about.

I haven’t tried the Morphe sponge but have heard really great things about it! Bummer they don’t have reviews on their website to compare though :-/
My personal favorites are the L’Oreal and Sephora Collection sponges! They both apply my face makeup flawlessly and last a really long time through many washes. I actually bought the Sephora one in a set of 3 around Christmas time and each was a different size which I liked! The set was $18.00 making each one around $6.00. If I had to pick which drugstore makeup sponge as my ultimate favorite, I would pick the L’Oreal one. I’m hooked on that one right now 🙂
I know this isn’t an exhaustive list of affordable sponges so leave me a comment below if I missed your favorite! Was this comparison helpful? I hope you are excited to try a new brand that you might not have known about before.
