I’m excited for part 2 of this mini-series talking all about affordable and underrated hidden gems! This post will focus on eye makeup. If you haven’t seen part 1 of the series talking about face products, check it out here -> Affordable & Underrated Face Makeup Hidden Gems. I found so many hidden gems that I decided to break up the posts in to face, eyes and lips. This post will cover affordable and underrated eye makeup hidden gems.
In my previous post, I talked about how I was getting bored and unexcited with my makeup recently. I was itching to discover some new and exciting products. But not the things everyone always keeps talking about. Where were the hidden gems that were amazing yet undiscovered (at least by me haha). So I went on a hunt and scoured Ulta’s website to find underrated and AFFORDABLE products. That’s a match made in heaven in my book. I’m not trying to break the bank and try something only to discover I don’t love it and I’m also out $40.
I will further categorize these eye products into groups like brows, eyeshadow, and liners. Plus, I will note any personal experience I’ve had with the products or tips on who these might work best for.
BROWS
// Ulta Ultra Slim Brow Pencil
I am team brow pencil and have tried lots of affordable ones…NYX, Maybelline, Benefit and L’Oreal pencils just to name a few. The NYX pencil is my favorite at the moment but I’m always down to try a new one. My next purchase will definitely be this Ulta one. It has a wide shade selection with undertone notes and the price is in line with most other affordable brands.
// Ulta Brow Pomade
If you are more of a pomade type of gal, Ulta also has a highly rated brow pomade. It has one of the largest shade ranges and is pretty middle of the road for price so you really can’t go wrong.
// Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara
I’ve tried this and really love the idea of it. It’s perfect for quick brow days because we all know brows can be one of the longest steps in your makeup routine. You can use it alone for a quick fill and set or use it on top of a pencil or pomade to help set your brows in place. The only reason I don’t continue using is it because the lighter shade is still too dark for me. But if the shades are a good match for you, I bet you will love it!
EYESHADOW
// Morphe 25B Bronzed Mocha Eyeshadow Palette
I truly love Morphe eyeshadows. My favorite palette is still the 35F Fall Into Frost palette. Morphe has so many palettes that it can be hard to know which to try. All the formulas will be great so you really can’t go wrong. If you’re looking for a neutral palette with everyday browns from natural to smokey shades, this is your palette!
// L.A. Girl Eye Lux Eyeshadow
I have this quad in Eternalize and love it! It’s a perfect everyday quad. I don’t really use the lightest cream shade but love the other three. The pigment payoff is fantastic and the shimmer shades are really pretty.
// Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palettes
Ok…these 10 shade palettes are $5.49!! That is so insane. I have this palette in Nude Awakening and use it all the time. I especially love the two bigger transition shades. I use them daily. The shimmers are decent and pack a bigger punch with a wet brush. They aren’t the most vibrant shimmers I’ve ever used but for $5.49, it’s worth it.
// Essence Melted Chrome Eyeshadows
Single eyeshadows are great to have on hand and highly underrated. I feel like they aren’t as popular as they used to be with the growing popularity of palettes. But I definitely reach for single eyeshadows that pack a big punch or might be a shade I don’t have in a palette. Pick up one of these singles to add to your collection.
EYELINER
// Milani Stay Put 16HR Eyeliner
There are tons of eyeliner options with different tips, formulas and overall applications. But don’t sleep on this Milani one. It has a unique shade range. Try out the marker tip and gel formula with a built-in smudger on the other end.
Did any of these affordable and underrated eye makeup hidden gems catch your attention? I cannot wait to try the Essence eyeshadow singles and Ulta brow pencil. What eye makeup hidden gems do you love that nobody talks about? Let me know in the comments. I love discovering something new!
