Jumping into another TOP 5 post all about Essence (praise hands!) Essence is sold at Ulta and if you blink, you could miss them because their section is tiny but boy is it good! Essence is one of the most affordable makeup brands I’ve tried and isn’t it the best when you find some hidden gems?! That’s exactly what all 5 of these products are – hidden gems each under $5 that will knock your socks off. Let’s talk about the 5 best beauty products from Essence and why you should try these 5 products first.
If you missed last week’s top 5 post about Catrice, I picked out the best products from the brand IMO and shared why I think you should try them first. Smaller brands like Essence and Catrice get me excited to start dabbling in but I find that it can be hard to know what products to start with first. You don’t want to pick some duds and end up writing off the brand as a whole just from a bad first impression when there could be some stellar products you just didn’t know you needed in your life! Well that’s what I’m hoping to help with.
It’s unlikely you will love every single product that a brand offers. Some will be hits and others will be misses. Some brands will have categories that they excel at like complexion or eyes or maybe formulas or applicators that they’re known for. I love to search through the weeds of all things affordable makeup to let you know what’s worth spending your money on 🙂
Ok I need to stop rambling and get into these 5 best beauty products from Essence already…
TOP 5
1 // Pure Nude Highlighter – $4.49
The hidden gem of all hidden gems that now has a name for itself and following is this highlighter! It is one of my all-time favorite highlighters because it’s subtle but buildable, goes with any look and perfect for everyday. It’s less than $5 but as good as highlighters from high-end brands like Hourglass and Becca that are upwards of $40 or more.
2 // Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara – $4.99
True to it’s name, this mascara will give you that false lash effect without the hassle of putting on falsies. I think this is the best formula out of their Lash Princess line because it does it all: volume, length, definition, etc.
3 // Volume Stylist 18hr Lash Extension Mascara – $4.99
This mascara is great for holding a curl! If you have straight lashes (welcome to my world) that need curl and hold all day, go with this mascara over the Lash Princess!
4 // Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara – $2.99
A straight up dupe for Benefit Gimme Brow Eyebrow Gel which is $24 so save yourself the $20 and go with this guy. It’s crazy fast to use on days when you don’t have time to sit and fill in your brows. Or you can use it to lock in your brows on days when you do have time to fill them in to give them a natural appearance. The only downside is the shade selection. The blonde shade is still a little dark for me but for $3, I make it work 🙂
5 // Shine Shine Shine Lipgloss – $2.99
If you’re looking for a standard gloss that’s shiny, pigmented and comfortable then look no further. These are totally underrated. Sometimes I just want a basic gloss. Nothing that’s going to be messy, require precise application or be sticky and goopy. That’s when I reach for these.
